The timeless voice of Carmody has come to grace our ears once again in new single ‘Dreamweaver’. This song is true to Carmody’s style; simple-yet-intricate beatwork, dream-inducing melodies, playful vocal pitching. However, ‘Dreamweaver’ is also a more evolved version of the South London artist’s electronic soul sound. Perhaps this is due to time spent exploring the idea of the songwriter as alchemist, which is by no means new territory in the realm of music creation, although we adore Carmody’s personal interpretation. As the artist explains, “'Dreamweaver' is about the life of a songwriter, spending countless hours weaving stories from a multitude of sources putting every piece of feeling we can into them in the hope they might bloom. When we send songs out into the world it’s sometimes hard to know where they came from. Some writers believe they're channelling deities, others (like myself) can only really write about things they've personally experienced. But I guess there's always a hope that they will resonate in some way despite never really knowing what journey or life the song will take after it's been written.” Produced by Jasper Tygner and co-written with Kevin Dailey, this is the first track we’re hearing from Carmody’s forthcoming EP, set for release in Autumn this year via Young Poet Records. - Hannah Thacker
